Breeders: Lionhead Rabbit

The Lionhead Rabbit is a relatively new rabbit breed within the United States of America. Although the breed had been imported around 1998, it was not until 2014 that the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) approved the Lionhead Rabbit as an officially recognized breed in the United States.

In contrast, the United Kingdom’s British Rabbit Council (BRC) recognized all known colours and varieties of the breed, in 2002.

Lionheads are generally a very calm and gentle breed of rabbits but some bunnies have been found to be a tad shy when they are first brought home. When a pet is taken away from the mother it usually always takes them some time to warm up to their new families. Lionhead rabbits need to be handled and cared for on a regular basis or else they will feel lonely and they will distance themselves from you.

Lionheads are not only cute and perky, they are very good-natured bunnies. They are very tolerant of children as well, and as such, they make wonderful pets for kids and adults alike. They also tend to be well-mannered, friendly, and easily trained.

If you want to purchase a Lionhead Rabbit it is important that you buy it from a respectable breeder who has good references. It is not recommend to buy your rabbit from individuals who happen to have a Lionhead for sale, if you do so you risk buying a rabbit that might have all kind of diseases or a bad temperament.
