This hilarious giraffe was caught drunk on camera. Yes, seriously, drunk. More often than you think, wild animals get “high” or “drunk” by consuming differents natural herbs and fermented fruits.
One of them is the Marula fruit, the Marula tree is a medium-sized tree, indigenous to woodlands of Southern Africa, the Sudano-Sahelian range of West Africa, and Madagascar.
The footage was recorded in the Kruger National Park, South Africa and shows two giraffes apparently fighting or playing rough. But one of them keeps swinging with his neck and missing the punch by quite far.
Recently, scientists had said that wilds drunken animals are no more than just a myth. They called The Marula Fruit Myth.
Michelle Gadd, an African wildlife specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, says that elephants and many other animals—including birds and monkeys—are too fond of marula fruit to let it rot. “Animals flock, fly, or run to ripe marulas to take part in the gorging, leaving few fruits lying around long enough to ferment,” she said.
We must trust in science, but I have to admit It does actually look like drunk behavior. I dare you to find another explanation.
This giraffe just isn’t doing it right… He is either warming up for the fight or just swinging at thin air because he’s drunk.
Truth or myth, let’s just enjoy of this funny giraffe and his swing and miss.
